  • Lactic Acid Fermentation: Beet Kvass undergoes lactic acid fermentation, which is the same process used for fermenting foods like sauerkraut and kimchi. This is not alcoholic fermentation.   • Minimal Alcohol Production: While small amounts of ethyl alcohol (ethanol) can be produced during fermentation (since it's a byproduct of wild yeast activity, which can be naturally present on the beet), the levels are typically very low in Beet Kvass, especially if it's a short fermentation period (3–5 days). The alcohol content would generally be well below 1%, which is far less than what would be found in alcoholic beverages like beer or wine.

  • Not enough to cause intoxication: Given that the alcohol content is so low, Beet Kvass would not cause intoxication or be enough to make someone drunk. The primary purpose of fermenting Beet Kvass is to create a probiotic-rich, health-boosting beverage, not to produce alcohol.


Factors that Can Affect Alcohol Content:
